Honda Clarity FCX | Fuel Cell Vehicle
The Honda Clarity FCX is the newest addition to the already impressive line of cars offered by Honda. What makes the Honda Clarity stand out from all the others is that it is a Fuel Cell powered electric vehicle that produces zero-emissions. Thats right zero-emissions, meaning no harmful chemicals are being released into our atmosphere.
How Does the Honda Clarity Work
As mentioned before, the Honda Clarity is an electric vehicle powered by a fuel cell motor. The majority of cars on the road today are powered by a standard combustion engine. The main difference is that the motor in the Honda Clarity gets its energy from converting hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) into electricity to power it, instead of from gasoline like most cars today. The benefit of the Honda Clarity’s fuel cell engine is that it has the power of a standard gas powered engine but offers the uniquely clean, quiet ride of an electric motor.
And don’t be worried about lack of power or comfort. The Honda Clarity has an approximate driving range of 270 miles before having to refuel, has a top speed of 100mph and is a roomy four-passenger sedan packed with amenities so you should have no trouble getting where you need to go on time and in comfort.
Purchasing the Honda Clarity FCX
Currently, the Honda Clarity is only going to be sold in limited numbers started in the summer of 2008 in Southern California and only in the cities of Torrance, Irvine and Santa Monica. The reason for these select cities is because of the lack of hydrogen refueling stations available to the public. Honda is in the process of developing a home refueling system to help make up for the lack of public refueling stations.
