After interviewing over 100 women for my book, I can tell you so much about the cosmetic surgery experiences of other women, (as well as my own, and the significant emotional undercurrents to this event. For most women these experiences are very positive and not to be confused with the simplistic explanation of that three syllable word: ‘vanity’.
Here is a hint: It can be found in the title of my book.

Discussing your concerns with other people who are also interested in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or facial rejuvenation is a great resource to check out! Of course, meeting with a qualified doctor is important when it comes to gettin’ the nitty-gritty, but chatting with others who have the same interest can be very comforting.

Yes, definitely do thorough research prior to plastic surgery. Here is a synopsis of my own experience: a cheek implant with a Dr. Bryant Toth in San Francisco. Poor placement resulted in implant shift and assymetry, as well as infection from poor techniques (quoted from another surgeon who later fixed the issue). Do not buy into any plastic surgeon, because a lot of them are like used car salesman and will try to sell themselves even when they have very little training or experience in certain procedures. I suffered because of this, so do a lot of research.

Butterfly, that sounds horrible! Yes, definitely do a lot of research. In addition to what’s mentioned already, I would suggest finding someone who is board-certified using http://www.abms.org or trustedsurgeons.com. Also know what you want before seeing the doctor and research the procedures out thoroughly on your own as well.

James:
Lasik has been around for a while now so there are many profesionals that have made this procedure safe.
A good place for you to do research is to read this article on Laser Vision Correction on ienhance.com
Good luck with your appointment.

I had a breast lift and augmentation with Dr. Miriam Awada in michgan. A true nightmare, she gave me breasts that were five time bigger then what I asked for, i became very ill after my surgery. I left her office in tears and she never even bothered to call me.
